Gene Mulkey – June 2, 2012

Gene Mulkey, 73, of Amarillo died Saturday, June 2, 2012.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, in First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard Batson officiating. Military rites are by DAV Chapter 26. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Gene was born Aug. 9, 1938, in Amarillo to Robert Royalton and Ann Catherine Mulkey. He married Sharyn Thacker on May 9, 1958, in Hadlock, Wash.
Gene graduated from Amarillo High School and attended Amarillo College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served on Aircraft Carrier USS Midway.   He worked in the oil and gas industry and was a member of First Baptist Church since he was born with memberships to various churches when they lived in other cities.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Alton, Hoyt and Donald.
Survivors include his wife, Sharyn; three daughters, Shannon Kelly and partner Andie Garnand of Broomfield, Colo., Karin and Mike Gaddis of Amarillo and Stacy and Steve
Crawford of Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren, Mathew Bell, Krista Bell, Brian Crawford and wife Mindy and Leah Carithers and husband Chris, all of Fort Worth, Jared Gaddis of Houston, Hannah Gaddis of Dallas and Erin Kelly, Emily Kelly, Eric Dunlap and Taylor Dunlap, all of Broomfield; two brothers, Jerrel Rex Mulkey and Charles Mulkey; and six great-grandchildren.
