Florence Jean Spangler, 81, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Rev. Roger Smith, Pastor of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mrs. Spangler was born May 4, 1931, in Amarillo to William and Lavada Carver. She married Earnest Spangler in Portales, N.M. on Jan. 19, 1951. He preceded her in death in 2007. Jean was a loving wife and mother who loved her family more than anything. She worked for many years as a sales clerk at Pittman’s Fairlane Pharmacy, and as cashier at Vivian’s Café. She was a Christian and a former member of Rebecca Lodge.
She is also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Raylene Spangler; a granddaughter-in-law, Lisa Marie Spangler; a great-grandson, Austin; and a nephew, Gary Milton.
Survivors include her four sons, Mike Spangler and wife Terrie, Terry Spangler and wife Karen, Steve Spangler and wife Patricia, and Wes Spangler, all of Amarillo; one sister, Fran Milton of Amarillo; two nephews, Glen Milton and wife Donna and Greg Milton and wife Theresa; a sister-in-law, Mickey Matthews of Dallas; fourteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.
