Eugene Durwood Page – November 13, 2012

Eugene Durwood Page, 92, formerly of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, in Dallas.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Llano Cemetery with Pastor Chad Mantooth of Temple Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Page was born in Lazarre, on March 1, 1920, to Louis Oscar Page and Nora Ann Arnett Page, the 7th of 8 children. After graduating from Quanah High School, in 1938, he served with the CCC in Western Wyoming during 1939. Returning to Texas, he worked for Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad in Amarillo from 1941 to 1985. Mr. Page enlisted in the Navy on the advice of his four brothers serving in the Army, served in the Pacific Theater during WWII from 1943 to 1946, and was in Japan when the Japanese surrendered. He married his sweetheart, Virginia Measley Page on June 30, 1946, shortly after returning from the war.
Mr. Page attended Temple Baptist Church; was a member of BRT 608; a lifetime member of UTU 1313 and TPEL double diamond member; and a lifetime member of VFW 1475.
Mr. Page was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Edward Lee Page; and Virginia Page, his beloved wife of 65 years.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Suzy Page living in Duncanville; his grandson Ross Alan Page living in Lancaster; grandson Jon Carson of Bangs and granddaughter Sandelynn Davis of Heath; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., Friday, Nov.  16, 2012 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Temple Baptist Church “Van Fund”, 3208 S. Van Buren St., Amarillo, TX 79109; or to Gladney Center for Adoption, 6300 John Ryan Dr., Fort Worth, Texas 76132.
