Edward K. “Eddy” Norfleet, Jr., 67, of Amarillo, TX passed away on January 7, 2021.

Private family services will be held.

Edward K. “Eddy” Norfleet, Jr. was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 18th, 1953.  Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Oklahoma where his father, Dr. Edward K. Norfleet Sr., practiced medicine.  Both his father and mother, Eva Weldon Norfleet, served their country during War World II, giving Eddy a lifelong admiration for our men and women in uniform.  His younger sister Pally was born 15 months after Eddy.

After graduating High School in Tulsa, he attended the University of Oklahoma where he earned a B.A. in 1975 and a J.D. in 1978.  He was a proud member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity.

After graduating from Law School, Eddy moved to Amarillo and had two children – Edward Keats Norfleet III and Emily Nell Norfleet.   He practiced law, first as in-house counsel for a Fortune 500 Oil and Gas Corporation, and as a sole practitioner for the last 24 years focusing on family law, oil and gas, and wills and probate.  Respected by his peers in the legal community, Eddy received numerous awards and served on local boards and commissions.

In 1993, Eddy married his best friend and love of his life, Gina Bowers.  He would become a second father to Gina’s young children, Blake and Chris.  The extended family of four children – Keats, Nellie, Blake and Chris enjoyed travel and holidays with Eddy, Gina and Aunt Pally.  He would later become “Boompa” to four adoring granddaughters, Parker, Price, Boston and Emma, calling and Face-Timing each on a near daily basis.

A die-hard Sooner football fan, Eddy never missed a game between TV and trips to Norman and bowl games.   Though shocked when his oldest son decided to attend the University of Texas, the two bet on the game every year, with the Sooners holding a 14-10 record as of 2020. Boomer Sooner.

His love of family and football was only outdone by his relationship with the Lord.  He kept a long prayer list of family and friends until his passing.  The family takes great comfort knowing Eddy is now in Heaven watching over them.

Survivors include his wife, Gina; sister, Pally; son and daughter-in-law, Keats and Malaise Norfleet of Austin; daughter, Nellie Norfleet of Amarillo; son and daughter-in-law, Blake and Amanda Bunnett of Shreveport; son, Chris Bunnett of Dallas; and granddaughters, Parker and Price Norfleet of Austin, Boston Bunnett of Dallas, and Emma Bunnett of Shreveport.

  1. We were frat bothers at OU during the early 70’s. Ed was always throwing a sarcastic jinger into our conversation and I always remember his adding humor to every conversation. He was a respected member of the Beta house and well respected by all. I am saddened to learned he has passed and am grateful of the memories he gave us. He was a great guy and he will always be apart of our Beta stories. May God bless you all….

  2. Eddy,
You always had a kind word and warm smile to welcome me into your home. You always went out of your way to make others feel loved on and accepted. We will miss you and we are praying for Gina and all your family as I can’t imagine the great loss and grief they feel right now.

  3. I always looked forward to seeing Eddie at family events, could always count on great conversations covering Football, hunting, history, wine & more…basically everything I enjoy. Eddie welcomed me into the family from day one. Cannot think Eddie enough for providing a positive male influence for my wife Misty during critical years of her youth.

  4. We met Eddy for the first time in Angel Fire at our son and Misty’s wedding. I met Eddy while he and Blake were fishing. It did not take long to tell Eddy was one of those kind caring special few that spoke purely from the heart. His gracious kind words at the rehearsal dinner regarding our family and friends were graciously pure and have been long felt.
I enjoyed following Eddy on Facebook and his love for football. You could easily see that he and Gina were truly perfect together. His love for Gina, children and grandchildren shined bright in all his post.
We truly send our sorrow to all his family and friends and pray for God’s Blessings to ease each day forward.
Chuck & Candy Maretzky, Jr and family. 🙏🙏🙏

  5. I met Eddy as a Beta Theta Pi, Gamma Phi Chapter pledge, at our beloved University of Oklahoma. Eddy was a tall, imposing figure, with a smile and heart of gold. Over the last several days I have laughed and cried recalling stories of Eddy with fellow BETA Brothers. Great memories that will stay with us forever. I enjoyed meeting Gina with Eddy at an OU game and staying in touch over the years. On our family trips to New Mexico and Colorado, I would always stop and call Eddy to say just hello. I am so fortunate to be a Beta Brother and friend.
Our Love and Prayers to Eddy’s Family . Rest in Peace dear Brother and Friend.

  6. Eddie and Gina were always a joy to see together; I can tell that they had a true love and respect for each other. He always had a kind word and a funny story to tell. Gina, I am truly sorry for your loss. We at Animal Medical Center will miss him deeply.
    My condolences.

  7. I met Eddy some 33 years ago when we both worked in the legal department of a big oil company in Amarillo. Not only was Eddy a great lawyer, he was a genuine person, who was always available to talk to, whether about pressing legal issues we were facing or just a pleasant visit in his office. With Eddy, what you saw is what you got. If there is such a thing as “likeability”, he had it. In spades. When we would be deep in the throws of a legal matter, he would always have a bit of levity or a corny joke, and we would all start laughing. I’ll miss you ole buddy. All my best and deepest sympathies to your family.

  8. Dear Gina and Family,
I am praying for your loss and hope you find peace and comfort in the great memories you have. God bless you all. Malinda Valdez and Family.

  9. As a Beta pledge brother of Eddy’s at OU, I have warm memories of his wit and wisdom and faithfulness to his friends. Eddy almost always spoke with a twinkle in his eye, and that trait will be missed by those close to him. He was a gentleman and a scholar, and a faithful brother.

  10. I have a great deal of admiration for Eddy. He represented a family member of mine in an emotional domestic dispute, and did so with respect for both sides of the issue. He also expressed a loving spirit, having a genuine interest in his Client’s situation and outcome.
I’ve felt grateful to Eddy for many years, and still do.

  11. I did not know Eddie as well as others, but after reading all the wonderful tributes to him, I was not at all surprised to hear what a wonderful man he was. This Is what I do know about Eddie, he raised a wonderful son, Keats, who loved and respected him. He was a wonderful father-in-law to my daughter, Malaise, and he was an adoring grandfather to Parker and Price. I also know that he meant the world to all of them. He and Gina together were wonderful caring people, whose love of family was never in doubt.
I send my entire families’ sympathy for his loss and hope for peace in the knowledge that you were loved by a wonderful man.

  12. I first met Eddy when I worked for a law firm in Oklahoma City in the early 1980’s. He was the head lawyer for a large oil company with interests in Oklahoma, and was a client of the firm. Long story short, soon thereafter, we both ended up at the same oil company in Amarillo. Eddy took me under his wings, and he has been a great friend over the years.
I always liked to talk to Eddy. I looked forward to our conversations because he always made me laugh. He was also a very, very good lawyer, and I always liked to hear his perspective on things.
Anyway, my sincere condolences to Gina and family. I will miss him very much, and will keep Gina and family in my thoughts and prayers.

  13. My sincerest condolences to Eddy’s family and friends. I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside Eddy on many cases over the last seven years. He was one of my favorite attorneys to work with and always cared so deeply for the children and parents he represented. His sense of humor was unmatched. He will be so missed within the CPS community!

  14. We will forever miss our “Uncle Eddie” our fondest memory was this Fourth of July 2020. We were popping fireworks in the back yard to hear some going off in the front yard,at my moms house. Our kiddos ran to the front yard to see Eddie firing roman candles into my moms yard. He invited the kids over to celebrate with him. His love for life, our Lord and for my aunt Gina are tremendous. He was also our attorney for the adoption of our son. He forever holds a place in our hearts. We will miss you Eddie.

  15. Eddie was a gentleman, scholar, and tireless advocate for helping others. His impact on this community will be felt for years to come. RIP.

  16. I am saddened by the passing of my cousin Eddy. Like my Cousin Chuck above I remember as a child and young man visiting with my Cousin Eddy and Cousin Pally. They were so much fun and I talked to Eddy just the other day. I will miss his wit and that “Hey Cousin Georgie” like he called me. Gina and Pally and family may God Comfort you now and in the future

  17. So sorry to hear of Eddy’s passing. I worked in the same office with him several years ago. He would come sit in my office when my boss was out of the office and we would visit about everything & nothing. I always enjoyed our visits. I was always very impressed with Eddy & enjoyed his stories. Very sad to hear of his passing. God has acquired a great man! Sincere condolences to his family.

  18. Rest in peace Eddy. My deepest condolences to the family. I was lucky to work with him on some cases and it was always a pleasure. He was one of my favorite attorneys to work with and loved his work ethic.

  19. There really aren’t words I could say, emotions I could express or much I could do to lessen the pain of a loved one’s passing but I offer my condolences and prayers to all who have been impacted by this great man’s passing, especially spouse, children, grandchildren, close friends, family and colleagues. I had the pleasure to work for Mr. Norfleet as a temp years ago & it was wonderful. It was an assignment I didn’t want to end. I didn’t know our paths would cross just months ago as he would begin to strategize on behalf of me and my son. He will be missed greatly but I believe he is in the best place of all, Heaven.

  20. I met Eddie, professionally, while working for the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services. Mr. Norfleet was the attorney ad litem for many of the children on my caseload, in addition to representing the parents. Eddie was one of the most accommodating attorneys in which I worked to achieve the reunification of families. I am saddened to hear of his passing. My sincere condolences to Eddie’s family and friends.

  21. Our prayers are with the entire Norfleet Family. Eddy was a great man who loved his dear family. We send love to everyone and may God be with all of you at this time.

  22. Gina, our deepest condolences. When the person you are closest to is gone, hold on to their memories and know that they are always there with you.

  23. Sympathy and prayers to Gina and and the rest of Eddy’s family. Eddy was a wonderful friend and I will miss him greatly.

  24. If we are lucky, God blesses us with a great friend for each time of our life. Eddy was that great friend to me while we came of age in our 20’s. We lived together for two years — Eddy’s last year of college and first year of law school. We had great adventures — to Austin, Padre and a planned trip to California that ended in the Nevada desert. We would sit in our apartment and talk of our plans and the fun to come. We were inseparable.

We were in each other’s weddings and then we had children and careers. We would lose touch and then after years, reconnect with a call. And in moments, we were back in that apartment with time pulled back.

Now we would talk about families and practicing law. But we would also talk about those early years and our common experiences. I wish I had said thank you for your friendship. I hope he knew.

Gina: I guess I write this note in large part to console me — but I want you and all of your family to know that the great man you were blessed with was also a blessing to others — even 45 years ago.

Eddy — I’ll see you again — and we will laugh.

    Best — Don

  25. Eddy was a good lawyer and a good man. I will miss him. He always brought up his family when visiting with him. He will be missed among the legal community and especially by his family whom he loved so much. Eddy is at peace now, and I pray the Lord will bless and comfort his family.

  26. Edward was my father’s (Jack W Holmes) attorney and friend. I spent some wonderful office visits talking with Edward after my father passed away.
He helped me with many legal issues and we had a blast talking about my father’s antics.
Edward is a man with a kind heart and helpful nature.
He told some great stories of his own.
My condolences to his wife Gina and family.

  29. Gina,
My heart is broken for you, Keats, Nellie, Chris and Blake. I trust the Lord has His arms wrapped around all of you, and I pray you each receive comfort from the many friends who love you.

I enjoyed his droll sense of humor and the fact that he had ambition and a career plan. I have had the good fortune to keep up somewhat with Eddy since our college days, and to know his two oldest children, Keats and Nellie, who are great people. I am comforted to know that Eddy has enjoyed a wonderful personal life and a close relationship with our Lord. Eddy’s family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for your friendship and mentoring. I will miss your hilarious sense of humor, the way you bragged on and loved on your family, seeing the newest picture of the grandchildren, how fun it was to try a case with you, the way your smile lit up when you talked about Gina. I will truly miss just getting to hang out with you at court. Wishing all who loved you love, peace and a heart full of memories.

  45. Gina: I am so very sorry for your loss . I never met Eddy but just seeing his post & pictures of the 2 of you together I could tell there was no doubt that you both loved each other so very much.
