Edgar "Dana" Persons – August 31, 2011


Edgar “Dana” Persons, 85, of Amarillo died on Wednesday, August 31, 2011.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. with Jerry Bell officiating.  Private burial will be at the Panhandle Cemetery in Panhandle, Texas.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Mr. Persons was born on May 19, 1926 in Irving, Texas to Henry Grady and Goldie Pond Persons.  He married Sue Cockrell on December 3, 1978 in Panhandle.  Mr. Persons retired from SPS in 1986 after being employed there thirty-six years.
Dana and Sue traveled with the High Plains Motor Home Club for many years.  They also belonged to various bridge and “88” Clubs.  Dana was an avid golfer and an extremely talented carpenter.  He had many friends and will truly be missed.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Bobbitt and Wynelle Harlan and two brothers, W.B. and Glenn Persons.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Persons of Amarillo; a daughter, Deborah Kay Lowery and husband Kelley of Houston; a son, Kevin Tolk Persons of El Paso; a granddaughter, Nichole Hosek and husband Michael; a great grandson, Charles Kelley of Sioux Falls, SD; a step daughter, Trena Santee and husband Spike and their two sons, Hollis and Weston of Lawrence, Kansas and grandson, Chase Crawford of Austin.
The family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church, P.O. Box 325, Panhandle, TX 79068.
