Duward Epps, 70, of Amarillo, died Monday, November 7, 2011.
Committal services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011 in Llano Cemetery with a memorial service following at 2:00 p.m. at Hillside Christian Church, 6100 Soncy, with Johnathan Mast officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Epps was born on Sept. 27, 1941 in Giles, TX to Joe and Thelma Epps. He graduated from Tascosa High School 1960. He married Doris Chesser on Nov. 25, 1960. He worked for The American Quarter Horse Journal for forty-two years. He was a member of Hillside Christian Church. Mr. Epps was a great and Godly man who loved his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tommy; and three sisters, Wanda Coffey, Darlene Harrison and Gwen Epps.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Doris Epps, of Amarillo; a son, Brent Epps and wife Traci of Amarillo; a brother, Jerry Epps and wife Shirley, of Las Vegas, NV; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Epps, of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Taylor, Tanner and Trinity Epps, and Chelsea Bearden; and two great-grandchildren, Brynlee Bearden and Bennett Hutchens.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to Hillside Christian Building Fund, 6100 Soncy, Amarillo, TX 79119; or to BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011 at the funeral home.
