Doyal “Wayne” Walton, 74 of Amarillo, TX passed away on April 6, 2020.

Due to the current pandemic, memorial services will be held at a later time. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Wayne was born in Bokhoma, Oklahoma on September 29, 1945. He graduated from Dumas High School in 1964 and continued his education at West Texas University for two years before being drafted into the Army in 1967. He later finished his education with an Associate’s degree at Amarillo College.

Wayne was married to Linda Walton on August 11, 1986; they were married 34 years.

Wayne worked in management at UPS for 33 years. Wayne was an avid golfer and enjoyed family activities such as going to the lake, boating, and playing board and card games. He loved going to the movies although you could usually find him sleeping through them. Wayne loved taking trips together as a family. He was a great “supervisor” anytime we worked on projects together. He was always laughing and rarely took anything serious. He was a “wonderful” babysitter- at least the kids thought so! He always knew how to be a little rebellious and have fun. He was always thought of as sweet and hilarious. He was also very encouraging. His favorite thing to say was “no pain no gain” when you were performing a tedious task, and rarely did you ever leave his house without hearing “come back when you can’t stay so long” even if you had only been there five minutes.

Wayne is survived by his wife Linda Walton, a brother James Walton and wife Donna of Amarillo, and his children (in chronological order), daughter Cindy Cramer and husband Brian of Borger, son Tim Walton and wife Tina of Amarillo, daughter Corina Walton of Amarillo, son Brian Walton and wife Sarah of Franklin, Tennessee, and daughter Farrah Walton and spouse Ethan Williams. He had 11 grandchildren: Leah, Teisha, Wesley, Zach, Matthew, Taylor, Devon, Lauren, Jack, Lylah, and Izzy. He had 7 great grandchildren: Jaxon, Jakin, Remi, Colt, Karson, Grayson, and Hudson with his 8th due in September.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents James and Lorene Walton.

Our family would like to thank everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes during this difficult time.

I am so sorry to read on the website of the loss of little (?) brother. I do not remember him but cannot help but wonder if he could possibly have given Ms. Peacock half the trouble you and Tindle did. I would love to give you both a big hug but fo now (: ugh ugh from Stillwater, Oklahoma. Even though I didn’t get to make it, I am so glad the reunion was held last year. God bless you and yours. Grieve-as-you must, not-as-others are telling you is right, wrong or indifferent. This is a hard pathway we are traveling without this but cling tightly to our Lord’s loving, unfailing and unchanging hands. He will see us all through. I can just hear my Tom telling us from Heaven, “It will be okay”. Hugs and kisses to you.
