Dovie Orland Stanley Jeans, 95, of Amarillo died Tuesday, April 3, 2012.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 6, 2012 in Llano East Cemetery with Dr. Gil Lain officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Born June 26, 1916, in Mansfield, Abbott County, Arkansas to Ores and Rose Stanley. As a young person, Dovie accepted Jesus as her Savior. She graduated from Mansfield High School, Mansfield, Arkansas. She married Carl H. Jeans, on May 6, 1939, in the parsonage of First Baptist Church, Liberty, Missouri.
Dovie and Carl lived in Independence, Missouri 49 years where she was devoted to her family, served as a Red Cross Grey Lady and was member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also talented in ceramics and china painting. She relocated to Amarillo in 1988 and was a member of Paramount Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, and a sister, Dema Armina Tucker.
Survivors include her husband of 72 years and 11 months, Carl H. Jeans; two sons, Carl E. Jeans and wife Betty of Amarillo and David S. Jeans and wife Susan of El Paso; four grandchildren, Timothy and wife Marcella, of Dickinson, Kimberly Rutledge and husband Dan of Katy, Amanda Jeans of Tucson, AZ, Megan Jeans of Boston, Massachusetts; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be to your favorite charity.
