Dorothy LaVerne Pool, of Amarillo, TX passed away at Hillside Heights on December 27th, 2019, at the age of ninety-one.

Dorothy was predeceased by her father, Luther Lee Standridge; mother, Goldie Kerr; sister, Stella B. Dilworth; and son, Randy DeWayne Pool.

Dorothy is lovingly remembered by son, Stanley Pool and wife Karen of Provo, Utah; son, Alan Pool and wife Jaimye of Herriman, Utah; son, Gary Pool and wife Krista of Amarillo, TX; daughter, Frances Pool and husband Mike Marsh of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren Thomas, Jenny, Kristen, Spencer, Chealana, Jamille, Rene, Cara, Jason, Garrett, Elizabeth, Katherine, Nathan, Angela, and Emma; and thirty-two great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was born in Chandler, Oklahoma on October 4, 1929. She obtained her GED at the age of sixty-two.  She worked at BSA hospital as a nurse’s aide for fifteen years and retired at the age of seventy-two.

Dorothy was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, dancing, gardening, and family gatherings.  She had an unmatched zest for life.

The funeral service for Dorothy will be held December 30th, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Bishop Hills Ward, 2101 North Coulter Street, Amarillo, Texas 79124.

  1. I worked with Dorothy for many years at BSA. She was always a delight to work with. I can see her sweet smile as she provided patient care. My prayers to all family members.
