Don Parsons, 83, of Amarillo, TX passed away at his home on December 6, 2020, after a short illness.  He was surrounded by his wife, Nancy, and nephew, Mac Parsons of San Angelo, TX.

Don was born February 20, 1937, to T. J. (Buck) and Helen (Stephenson) Parsons in a family farm home near Claude, TX.  Later the family established their home in Hereford, TX.  Don graduated from Hereford High School in 1956 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from West Texas State University in 1962.  He then taught and coached at Harley Independent School District in Hartley, TX.  His early career switched from education to the insurance industry where he spent 20 years. After retiring from his insurance career, he was involved in cattle ranching and land development in southwest Kansas where many knew him as “Jingles”.

Don is survived by his wife, truly a soul mate and best friend of 36 years; a daughter, Lee Ann Parsons, of McKinney, TX; sisters, Nancy Evans, Clifton, TX, and Doris Cory, Poughkeepsie, NY; and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

At Don’s request, there will be no services.  Cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the Glioblastoma Foundation whose mission is to further the development of drug therapies for brain cancer.
