David Eldon Bennett – December 13, 2012

David Eldon Bennett, 65, of Amarillo, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Rev. Robert Bennett officiating. Military Rites are by DAV Chapter 26. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Bennett was born Feb. 3, 1947, to Orvil Bennett and Della Clark Bennett in Carnegie, Oklahoma and grew up in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He joined the Army and served his country with three tours of duty including Vietnam. Mr. Bennett had worked for Amarillo Gear.
Mr. Bennett was everyone’s friend. He had a big heart. He was sweet, kind, and compassionate. He liked watching Netflix and drinking beer with his friends at the Cactus Bar. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orvil Bennett and Della Bennett; a brother, Robert Lee Bennett; and nephew, Hugh Winder, Jr.
Survivors include two brothers, Bennie Bennett and wife Grace of Amarillo and Richard Bennett of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Pat Winder and husband Hugh of Phelps and Deanna Arend of Amarillo; seven nephews; five nieces; and several great-nephews and great-nieces.
The family suggests memorials be made to DAV Chapter 26, in care of Earl Clift, 7918 Underwood Drive, Amarillo, TX 79121.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
