When Amarillo became her home, she became a member St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Arredondo Chapter of the DAR.

A highlight for the family was the cabin they built in Angel Fire, NM, which was enjoyed by all for many summers.  DaOnne enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, reading, playing Bridge in Borger, and in her early years, DaOnne enjoyed gardening. She also enjoyed the years they spent overseas which gave them the opportunity to explore Europe, making many friends, and having many experiences along the way.

Kenneth died on September 11, 2005 and DaOnne remained at Park Place Towers.  It was there she met Rev. Julius Early.  They married in 2006.  It was a short marriage as Rev. Early died in 2011. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Sarah Ehlers.
