Packard Obit PhotoDanny Ray Packard, 64, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013 in Amarillo.
Memorial services will be at noon Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Packard was born April 25, 1949, in Cherokee, Okla., to Loren Lee and Donna Packard.
Dan was a lifelong newspaper man working with the Amarillo Globe-News starting in 1968. He went on to work at the Daily Oklahoman as well as owning two newspapers in Oklahoma. He ended his 40-year career with the Globe-News.
Dan was a sports fan, an avid OU fan and more than anything loved watching his three grandchildren participate in dance and sports.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jeannie Roberts.
Survivors include a daughter, Holly and husband Denzil Linton of Summersville, W.Va; a son, Ray Packard and wife Elizabeth of Amarillo; two sisters, Ruthann Bradshaw and husband Sam of Dallas and Paula Keller of Cleburne; three brothers, Neil Packard and wife Luain of Bushland and Mark Packard and wife Linda and Lon Packard and wife Susan, all of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Lexi, Loren Lee and Cameron Packard; and many nieces and nephews.
The family suggest donations be made to Faith City Mission in his name, 401 S.E. Second Ave., Amarillo, TX 79101.
