Cynthia Louise Ellis, known to those who loved her most as Gigi, passed away Monday, April 19th, 2021, at 66 years old.

She was born on October 11th, 1954 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Margaret and Homer McKenzie. She was the youngest of four siblings and always spoke fondly of her three older brothers.

She married Mike Ellis in 1971 and soon after they had their first daughter Catina, followed by Christi a few years later. As a family, they loved traveling on camping and fishing trips. Later in life, she became a doting Gigi to her six grandchildren, Tyler, Masyn, McKenzie, Payton, Kaitlyn and Paxtyn. In addition to caring for and spoiling her grandkids, she loved her many animals over the years and working in her garden. She was a selfless and caring daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend with a huge heart full of unconditional love.

Her family is eternally grateful for the last two and a half years they got to spend with her. Despite her marriage to Mike ending years ago, he stepped up to be one of her prime caregivers during her final years and showed his family the meaning of true love and taking care of one another. They also want to give a special thanks to the incredible staff at Harrington Cancer Center and her amazing BSA hospice nurses. In lieu of flowers, Cynthia and her family ask that you would make donations in honor of her to the Harrington Cancer Center in Amarillo, Texas.

Cynthia is survived by her ex-husband Mike Ellis, their daughter Catina Leonard and her husband Brenton Leonard and their two daughters McKenzie and Kaitlyn Leonard, their other daughter Christi Ellis and her four sons Tyler, Masyn, Payton, and Paxtyn Walker, and her brothers Steve McKenzie and his wife Penny McKenzie, Ronnie McKenzie and his wife Kay McKenzie, and David McKenzie and his wife Linda McKenzie, as well as her special dog Charlie. She was preceded in death by her mother Margaret McKenzie, and her father Homer McKenzie.

The service will take place on Saturday, April 24th, 2021, at 2:00 PM, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, located at 2800 Paramount Blvd in Amarillo, TX.
