Cris Wheeler-July 5, 2011

Cris Wheeler, 35, of Amarillo died on Tuesday, July 5, 2011.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Hillside Christian Church Chapel with Mike Nuthman officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Cris was born on February 24, 1976 in Amarillo, Texas.  He graduated from Caprock High School and married Jennifer Woolsey on July 25, 2009 in Amarillo.  Cris owned Quality Drywall and had most recently been a Direct T.V. installer.  He loved riding his Harley, playing pool and get togethers with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Wheeler and his father, Mike Wheeler.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer and step daughter, Amber Woolsey, both of the home; a step son, Josh Woolsey of Amarillo; his mother, Kay McKnight and husband Bill of Amarillo; his grandmother, Odell Wheeler of Kingston, OK; a sister, Robyn Tramontina of Amarillo; two half brothers, Shane Wheeler and Bret Wheeler, both of Amarillo; three nieces, Shady Wheeler, Natalie Tramontina and Lindsay Tramontina, all of Amarillo; his aunts and uncles, Cookie and Rob Rutherford of Rowlett, TX, Russell and Linda Wheeler of Hemphill, TX, Lloyd and Louella Wilson of Seguin, TX and numerous cousins.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Amarillo Downtown Lions Club, 419 N. Buchanan St., Amarillo, TX 79107.
The families will be at their respective homes.

  2. Jennifer – Thank you for remembering Dennis in this time of sadness & loss. Had we known we would have been there. Over the years Cris & Dennis continued to keep in touch. I didn’t get the pleasure of meeting Cris though I knew him through the love Dennis held in his heart for Cris. Please accept our deepest condolences for the loss of Cris…husband & father.

  8. Kay, I am so sorry for the loss of your son Cris. He was my son Jason Contreras good friend. I remember Cris from school and riding bikes with Jason, they were always a good friends. They knew each other all through Lawndale and on to Caprock. There is nothing in this world I can say to ease your pain, except that I know what cross you will carry now for the remainder of your life. Losing a child is the hardest suffering on earth. I know because my son passed away in 1998. I share your pain and I will offer prayers for healing for you and your family, please know that Jesus love will comfort you and carry you until you see him again in Heaven.
