Connor James Lyons-May 8, 2011

Connor James Lyons, 19, of Bushland died Sunday, May 8, 2011.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Oasis Southwest Baptist Church, with Kurtis Spidel officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Connor was born July 16, 1991, in Amarillo to Rosario and Bill Lyons. He was raised in Amarillo and Bushland and lived here all of his life. He attended Tascosa High School and Amarillo College.
Connor loved his Lord with all of his heart and wanted everyone he knew to have that same personal relationship. He was a lifelong member of Faith Baptist Church.
Soccer was his passion on earth. He missed only one season of 28 with Amarillo Soccer Assn. and High Plains Drifters from the month after his fourth birthday. Connor played four years for Tascosa High School including as captain the fourth. He also played many seasons of indoor soccer with Kids Inc. including several with his father until the end of January. His uniform number was 8.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, William H. Lyons of Saltsburg Pa. and Gregorio Gabaldon of Dumas.
Survivors include his parents, Bill and Rosario Lyons of Amarillo; a sister, Chriselda Reyes and nephew Laken of Amarillo; his grandparents, Carolyn and Terry Ahlborn of Derry Pa. and Eustacia Gabaldon of Dumas; and many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him very much.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family requests memorials and donations go to Camp Alphie, P.O. Box 3819, Amarillo, TX 79116-3819, or Make-A-Wish, 411 S. Fillmore, Amarillo, TX 79101.

  2. Bill and Rosario – Our prayers are with you and your family during this time. I remember watching him come into the store in his soccer uniform and thinking how well manored he was. You did a great job as parents and he will be missed by all who knew him. Our sincerest condolences go out to you.

  5. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I know I will never forget how Connor was always there for Melissa. He was always there to help her during her difficult moments. A wonderful wonderful young man. We will miss him dearly and if there is anything you guys need just let us know.

    Wise, loving and mature way beyond his years, Connor was such an inspiration to all who knew him. I can’t belive he was only 7 when I first came to Faith with Melvin and met you all. I know he will be greatly missed and yet, what a special place to be with His BEST friend, Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

    It was an absolute honor to be friends with Connor. He always gave the most he could into life and in the end, that is all we can ever ask for. He constantly reminded me what it was like to be the right person all of the time. I pray for you guys and know that you nor Connor will Never Walk Alone.
