Clinton Ray Bethel – January 7, 2015

Bethel Obit PicClinton Ray Bethel, 91, of Dumas, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, in First Baptist Church in Dumas with Jerry Howe, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox Ave.

Clinton was born Oct. 22, 1923, in Ivanhoe to V.M. and Annie Bethel.  He earned a bachelor’s degree from OSU and was a self-employed mechanic.  Clinton married Odessa Wood on Sept. 13, 1943, in Durant, Okla.  Clinton loved his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  He enjoyed working on cars, hunting, fishing and playing dominoes.  He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Odessa Bethel, of the home; two sons, Ken Bethel and wife Sharon of Pueblo, Colo. and Jim Bethel and wife Debbie of Dumas; a sister, Marion Brody of Plano; a nephew, William Brody of Plano; a niece, Elizabeth Ferbert and husband Ken of Plano; five grandchildren, Mickey, Toby, Tonya, Anthony and Melissa; 15 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to Wounded Warrior Project,  P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675; or to Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home, 1020 Tascosa Road, Amarillo, TX 79124.
