Chester Butler, 77, of Claude died Sunday, February 17, 2019.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 21, 2019, at Claude Cemetery.  Memorial services will follow at 11:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church Chapel in Amarillo with Dr. Howard K. Batson officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Chester was born July 29, 1941, in Borger to Glenn and Mae Butler.  He married Shirley June Haney on February 23, 1962, in Claude.  Chester was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church in Amarillo.

Chester was a member of Armstrong County 4-H and served on the Claude Cemetery Board for many years.  He also served many years in the Claude Fire Department.  He was a farmer, rancher, auctioneer, sold headstones for Osgood, and owner of West Texas Therapeutic.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Shana Butler.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Shirley June Butler, of the home; a daughter, Shelly Allen and husband Pat, of Canyon; a son, Kyle Butler and wife Desha, of Claude; and four grandchildren, Tiffany and Tyler Allen, and Addison and Breleigh Butler.

The family suggests memorials to Claude Fire Department.

  1. Chester was a loving and kind follower of Christ. We worked together when Shana died at age 7. Shirley & Chester were so gracious and loving during the time of their great loss. Love goes on forever” -1 Corinthians 13:8

    I will miss him so much.
    He helped me greatly with his therapeutic back massage some years ago. And then it was so good to get to know him better at church.
    Great man.

  3. Chester always greeted you with a warm smile. He was one of the kindest people and had a great love for his family. He will be greatly missed.
