Charlie Robinson, 97, of Vega died on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 in Amarillo.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 25, 2011 at the Memorial Park Cemetery at Vega with Jim Shelburne, Pastor of Washington Avenue Christian Church, officiating. Masonic Rites will be by the Vega Masonic Lodge #899. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers at Vega.
Mr. Robinson was born in Vian, Oklahoma on December 1, 1913. He grew up in Cowley County, Kansas and moved to Vega in 1929. He graduated from Vega High School in 1931.
Mr. Robinson married Jewelle Southard of Amarillo in 1941. She preceded him in death in 2003. He served in the U.S. Navy for three and a half years during WWII.
He moved to Oregon and worked for West Oregon Electric from 1946 to 1954. He then farmed and ranched in Oldham County for about eighteen years. He moved to South Padre Island, Texas and formed his own Electrical Air Conditioner business for a number of years.
Mr. Robinson retired in 1981 and moved to Amarillo. He was a member of Washington Avenue Christian Church.
Survivors include his brother, Frank Robinson; two nieces, Patty Robinson and Lynda Simmons and a nephew, Dickie Robinson.
The family suggests memorials be sent to the Memorial Park Cemetery at Vega, P.O. Box 496, Vega, Texas 79092, or to the Vega Masonic Lodge #899, 811 E. Main, Vega, TX 79092.
Viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Boxwell Brothers at Vega.
