Charles W. Crites-February 26, 2011

Charles W. Crites, 85, of Amarillo, died Saturday, February 26, 2011.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Paramount Baptist Church with Reverend F.M. Byford officiating.  Burial will be at Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Crites was born on October 15, 1925 in Amarillo to Victor and Lillie Crites.  He proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII at the Admiralty Islands.  After discharge he graduated from West Texas State University.  He worked for Mobil Oil for sixteen years and then went to work at Diamond Shamrock until he retired.  He prepared tax returns at his house for many customers.
He was an avid sports fan coached several football and basketball teams.  He went to Old Mexico every year for an annual fishing trip and he loved watching John Wayne movies.  He married Lavoice Meador on September 2, 1950 at Buchanan Street Baptist Church.  He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church where he served as Deacon Emeritus.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Lavoice Crites, of the home; sons, Barry Crites and wife Joan of Amarillo, and Michael Crites and wife Susan of Pueblo, Colorado; daughter Cindy Bellah  and son Alan Crites, both of Amarillo; sister, Mary Crites of Amarillo; grandchildren, Kari Trice and husband Jason, Nikki Fowler, Mindi Fowler, all of Amarillo, Tanner Crites and Trevor Crites of Pueblo, Colorado, Skyler Crites and Seth Crites, both of Amarillo; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family suggests memorial donations to Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 26, P.O. Box 864, Amarillo, TX 79105; or to VFW Post 430, P.O. Box 417, Canyon, TX 79015-0417.
