Chad Michael Drake was born September 4th, 1983 in Killeen, Texas to Jodi Rae and Kyle Wesley Drake, Sr.  He passed peacefully and went to his heavenly home on March 4th, 2020 in Amarillo, Texas. Chad grew up in a military family and spent his childhood traveling from base to base, always making friends and memories along the way. Chad was the youngest of 3 boys, but often times would think he was the oldest and he would be the first to tell you he was the best looking one as well as the best dresser. He had a love of talking and was never at a loss for words, he had the greatest sense of humor, always had a joke or a funny story to tell, this is how he became known as Chadderbox to his family.  He loved being so much taller than his Momma and took great pleasure in picking her up and holding her upside down. His tender heart and love for animals was evident in his care for his Boxers Lilly and Promise, who he treated like babies.  He enjoyed Dallas Cowboys and Texas A&M Football. Chad graduated from Indian River Central High School in 2002 in Philadelphia, New York. He joined the Air Force after graduation and was a proud and dedicated Airman specializing in Security Forces stationed in Vandenberg AFB in California. After his air force service, he went to North Carolina and attended school for auto body repair.

Chad made Amarillo his home in 2008.

He was known as the fun uncle to Brandon “Little B”, Alexis, Kyle and Kody. He spent hours teaching them to be the best bowlers and dancers and making them laugh and smile.

February 15, 2017, the happiest day of Chad’s life was when his dream came true in becoming a father.  True joy and pride filled his heart when he first held his baby girl, his angel, Alivia Kylie Rose Drake.  While waiting for her arrival he decorated her nursery and put together a wardrobe fit for a princess.  From the very minute she was born he loved feeding and bathing and changing her, holding her and rocking her. He couldn’t get enough of her. His heart was full, and his dream was to be the best Daddy. He was so proud of all her milestones and accomplishments and couldn’t wait to watch her grow and protect her.  Anyone who knew Chad, knew about his “Angel” Alivia, he was forever showing them her picture and would tell them “my angel is my world” and his eyes would light up and he had the biggest smile. There was never anything or anyone that made him as happy as Alivia.

Chad is preceded in death by his brother, Kyle Wesley Drake, Jr., his grandparents J.G & Carolyn Garrett and Michael Drake, his cousin Monique Meadows.

He will be missed forever and is survived by his daughter, Alivia Kylie Rose Drake, his parents Kyle Drake, and Jodi and Joe Traugott. His brother Brandon Drake (Chrisi). Step Sisters – Rachael and Valarie Traugott. His grandmother, Lois Drake.  Nephews- Brandon “Little B , Kyle and Kody. His Niece- Alexis. Many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins and Friends.

Chad always gave the very best hugs. We are going to miss those hugs.

We love you Chad and we will always tell Alivia how much she meant to you and never let her forget that she is Daddy’s Princess and your whole world.

The family will receive friends from 3 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
