Calvin C. McAdams, 83, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012.
Private services are pending. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Calvin was born Dec. 8, 1928 in McLean to Herman W. and Elizabeth McAdams.
Calvin graduated from Pampa High School in 1946, attended Texas Tech and then joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951, stationed in Tachakawia, Japan. He was employed by Hart, Shaftner and Marx as a salesman at Blackburn Brothers Clothiers for 30 years, managing the downtown and suburban stores mens’ departments. He owned and operated Sav-On Autos on 3rd Street for many years after retirement.
He married Lee Chadwick on July 9, 1954 in Mangum, Okla.
He was a 50-year member of the Grand Lodge of Texas, Master Mason, Palo Duro No. 1239. He was a 32nd mason with the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, and member of the Khiva Shrine holding many offices through the years, enjoying each and every opportunity to serve. Calvin was a member of the Amarillo Executive Association. Calvin attended Family Worship Center with Pastor Max Beggs.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Delores Cooper-Hall and JoAnn Kelley.
Survivors include wife Lee of 56 years of Amarillo; a sister, Gwen Tidwell of Pampa, a daughter, Celia McClintock and son-in-law, Kim McClintock of Comfort, TX; and two grandsons, Matt and Andrew McClintock of San Antonio.
