Brenda Gayle Stewart, 67, of Amarillo, TX died December 21, 2020.

Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, January 7, 2020 at Crossroads Country Church with Pastors Bob Miller, Mike, and Joe from Crossroads Country Church officiating.

Brenda was born in Camp Stoneman Travis Airforce Base in Bakersfield, CA, on August 25, 1953, to Gene and Catherine Brock while her father was stationed there.  They moved to Texas before Brenda’s 2nd birthday.

Brenda had many hobbies that she enjoyed which included square dancing, country western dancing and working on her family tree. She had learned how to crochet and made several blankets as gifts for several of her friends. One of her favorite flowers was the yellow rose.  She enjoyed going out to eat with her son, Jerry, and his family with a movie afterwards.   Brenda was a caring and loving grandma, mother, and mother-in-law. She was always kind and wanted to stay busy.  She loved helping her grandson, Chase, putting puzzles together, was supportive of her granddaughter, Carrie’s sport medicine and helping her youngest granddaughter, Courtney, with her reading and schoolwork.  Brenda was always a willing participant to try her son, Chad’s cooking, and cooking classes.   She had a small companion, Sugar Britches, a miniature Dachshund, that so full of energy and love for Brenda. Sugar was always waiting for Brenda to come home and was always right by her side.

Brenda was active in the Order of the Eastern Star while married to her late husband, Bobby Stewart. She enjoyed the beauty of the ceremonies, the order, and teachings of the ladies of the OES.

Brenda was baptized by her father; Pastor Gene Y. Brock, in a small Baptist church at the age of 7. She joined Crossroads Country Church in 2016 and found peace and joy of the Lord there. She was not very active, yet her emotional ties were touched by those who got to know her.  Brenda had several very “special” friends that she loved dearly even when things got rough.

Brenda’s daughter in law, Pam, opened her arms to Brenda and had a special place in Brenda’s heart, along with Chad’s stepdaughter, Bella, who became a part of the family when she made the decision to live with her mom. Brenda was proud of her sons and their families.  They did not have a lot of time for the two families to get acquainted, but everyone knew they were all part of one big family.

Her sons being back in her life was something very special. They may have disagreed, but she loved them unconditionally.  Brenda was overjoyed watching a strong bond develop between her and her stepdaughter, Maddie, with her two younger stepbrothers.

Survivors include her sons, Jerry Freeman Brock and wife Pammela Musick Brock, Chad Hardisty and wife Tabitha Armstrong Hardisty; grandchildren, Hunter Gene Brock, Tristan Lee Brock, Carrie Ann Hardisty, Chase Mathew Hardisty, and Courtney Gayle Hardisty;  five beloved 5 stepchildren, Devan Nocona Franks, Sharon Brooke and her husband Dylan Warren, Madison (Maddie) Paige Franks, Bella Hawkins, Johnathan Aaron, Izac Aaron, and William Aaron; a younger brother, Jerry Kent and wife Carmela Brock, along with their 3 children, Michele, Jeremy and Jeremiah.  She also had numerous cousins on both sides of the family

Brenda will be missed, but will remain in our hearts, and memories always.

  1. I am sorry that you have lost your Mom and Grandmom. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and family. Brenda was my older cousin and had the awesome responsibility of baby sitting me, entertaining me, and in general putting up with me when I was growing up. Being a few years older she carried that burden well and I loved her for it as well as worshiped her Barbie doll collection. I will carry fond memories of those times forever. Love Carrie and Dave Stokes.

  2. I am so sorry for your loss of Brenda. We have been friends through Eastern Star for many years. I know she always missed Bobby so much, now she is with him again. God be with you all!
