Bobby A. Jones – October 12, 2012

Bobby A. Jones, 76, of Amarillo died on Friday, October 12, 2012.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 15, 2012 at Polk St. United Methodist Church with Dr. Burt Palmer and Reverend Kevin Deckard, officiating. Private burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Military Rites are by U.S. Marine Corps. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Jones was born on November 10, 1935 in Pampa, Texas to Martin and Helen Jones. He served in the United States Marines Corps during the Korean Conflict and married Janie Lewis on April 6, 1955 in Clayton, New Mexico. Mr. Jones was a member of Polk St. United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Janie Jones of Amarillo; two sons, Mike Jones and Mark Jones and wife Sharon of Amarillo; a daughter, Lisa Baker of Amarillo and Paul Baker of Ft. Worth; two brothers, Jimmy C. Jones and wife Sylva of Virginia and Rick Jones of Athens, Georgia; three sisters, Nancy Davis of Denton, Debbie Bryant of Bridgeport, Texas and Gladys Robertson and husband Mack of Austin; seven grandchildren, Michael, Melissa, Megan, Jamie, Kerry, Kasey and Katee and six great-grandchildren.
Bobby’s passion for life began with his military service and his 57 year marriage to his sweetheart Janie. After his military career, Bobby was an Air Traffic Controller for 33 years. In earlier years Bobby was committed to assisting the many ministries of Polk Street United Methodist Church. Besides spending time with his children and grandchildren his interests included carpentry, fishing, reading, playing cards, and amateur landscaping.
The family suggests memorials be made to Polk St. United Methodist Church, 1401 S. Polk St., Amarillo, TX 79101; or to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256.
