Billy Joe Sachse, 88, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Dr. Gil Lain and Lance Herrington officiating. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Billy was born Dec. 23, 1924, in Leslie to Dee and Chester Ione Sachse. He married Helen Taylor on July 25, 1959, in First Baptist Church in Canyon. He was affectionately known as “Daddy” and “Pop” to his girls.
He was a metrology technician for Pantex for 45 years. He loved to exercise and was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Sachse; a daughter, Melissa Petree of Dallas; a granddaughter, Amanda Dee Sachse Haley and husband Dallas of Altus, Okla.; his beloved animals, Lucy Vuitton, Dazy and Ottis.
The family thanks the nurses and staff of PCM for their dedication and loving caring for Billy Joe for the last four years.
The family suggests memorials be to Paramount Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, 3801 S. Western St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
