Betty Helen Bledsoe Bischof – July 20, 2011

Betty Helen Bledsoe Bischof, 82, of Amarillo died on Wednesday, July 20, 2011.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2011 at the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd.  with Deacon Blaine Westlake officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
She was born in Plainview, TX on 6/6/29 (D Day!) to James and Brittie Bledsoe.  She had two siblings Aurel “Ed”, and James Bledsoe, Jr.  She met Raymond George Bischof while he was stationed at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, TX.  They married on 7/6/57.  They resided in a variety of locations during their Air Force  career including: Lincoln, Nebraska,  Goose Bay,  Labrador; Chicopee, Massachusetts and upon retirement, settling in Amarillo, TX to raise their three children, Cynthia Bischof, James Bischof  and Cathy Bischof Tate.
Betty was an avid golfer and shared her love of golf with her husband, son, grand children and golfing buddies.  A little over a month and a half ago she even placed in a golf tournament!  Bowling was another sport she loved and she participated in weekly leagues at Western Bowl with her daughter Cathy.  Travelling to annual state bowling tournaments was also something she looked forward to.   She also enjoyed a good game of dominoes with her friends at the Craig.  One of her favorite activities was playing the slots!  She would never pass up a trip to Vegas or Laughlin with family and friends!  She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and was always willing to help others.  Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life and she never missed a sporting event for any of them unless her health kept her from attending.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents James (1949) and Brittie (1998) Bledsoe; her two brothers James, Jr. (1949) and Ed (1999) as well as her spouse, Ray (2006).
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Bischof and her special friend, David Pickett; James Bischof and his wife, Denise; Cathy Tate and her husband Tal. She had 4 grandchildren, Ashley and Sean Tate, and Aaron and Ryan Bischof and 4 grand pets, Rinnie, Bitsy, Tanner and Rocky.  She considered PJ Cole and Ann Bailey as daughters as well.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Ryan Palmer Foundation, P.O. Box 32271, Amarillo, TX 79120.
