  1. Mrs. Blades is often on my mind. She was such a positive force in my life. I treasured her friendship and guidance. The last time I visited her in the nursing home, she had a blanket with a scripture sewn on the inside. I read her the scripture. She could not speak well since having a stroke, but after I read the scripture she smiled that sweet smile and clearly said “I love the Lord”! I was amazed at how clearly she pronounced those words. As sick as she was, she was still a witness for the Lord. I sat with her for several hours, amazed at what I had heard. When I left, I sensed that would be the last time I would see her on earth, but what an amazing goodbye she gifted me with. Galen, your Mom was very proud of each of you. I’m sorry I was not able to attend her funeral, but I broke my leg and was not able to put pressure on it. She is always in my thoughts.
