Bertha Rosas Quiroz, 82, of Dumas, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2011.
Services will be held in Menard, TX. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.
Mrs. Quiroz was born on May 10, 1929 in Menard, TX to Rafael and Manuela Rosas. She married David E. Quiroz on Dec. 7, 1947 in Menard. She was a caseworker for Community Action Program for ten years in Tulia. She owned and operated the El Matador restaurant in Tulia for five years. She then moved to Dumas where she opened and operated the El Matador restaurant. Mrs. Quiroz loved taking care of her roses in her garden, quilting and taking care of her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David; a daughter, Maria Cynthia Quiroz and a grandson, Paul Christopher Alaniz.
Survivors include her daughters, Delia Quiroz of Buda, TX and Teresa Quiroz of Dumas; a son, David Julian Quiroz of Ft. Wayne, MI; sisters, Leonor Martinez of Junction, TX, Lucia DeAnda and husband, Alvino, Katy Hernandez, all of Menard, TX, Marylou Mata and husband Joe of Houston, TX and Anna Maria Rosas of Austin, TX; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
