Bernie Anna Hamman Warren was born to C.O. and Pearl Hamman on July 25, 1924 on the family farm 3 1/2 miles NW of Dodson, Texas.  She was an only child and attended Dodson schools for all 12 years and graduated there, standing side by side with her sweetheart and future husband, Benny Elbert Warren.  They were married November 21, 1942 and remained partners for life.
Mrs. Warren attended Draughn’s Business School at Wichita Falls.  At the beginning of WWII, Mr. Warren joined the Merchant Marine, and later the Navy.  Mrs. Warren followed him around from coast to coast until he went overseas.  She worked at Northwest Texas Hospital in the Business Office until he came home.  She then lived on the farm at Dodson for 11 years and worked at the Production Credit Association in Wellington for five of those years.  She was a housewife for several years, and then worked for the American Quarter Horse Journal for 10 years, and quit in 1974 to take care of her Mother.  She lived the rest of her life as a housewife and wonderful grandmother.
Among her loves in life, besides her family, were bowling, fishing, gardening, and her dogs.  Anna enjoyed playing the piano, accordion, and keyboard.  She also enjoyed gospel music.  She was a member of the Yellow Rose Sams RV Club.  She was deeply religious and her faith comforted her in her battle with lung cancer.

  1. Jana and Lyndel.
My heart goes out to you in the loss of your mother. She was such a bright light and always had a beautiful smile and laugh. I know you will miss her so much. We never get over losing our mothers. But she is in a perfect place now and I look forward to seeing her once again \over there.\
Much love to you and yours. May God comfort you as only He can.

  2. Elbert and family,
Bernie Anna was a loving woman who invited me into the Warren family with LOVE. You could tell how she cherished her family and she will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved her.

  3. My sincere condolences to the Warren family for their loss. Mrs. Warren was always nice to everyone she met. She tolerated a lot of monkey business from Lyndel and myself when we were growing up, but she always forgave us and fed us anyway. I know she will be missed. RIP
