“Benny was my little brother, a constant in my life, someone who would always be there. I watched him grow, graduate, marry, and become a father.

I was always so proud of him and took great pride in his successes. I always valued the time we spent together, and over time he became more than my brother, he became my friend.

Today I had to say goodbye to my brother, but also to my friend. I know I will never be quite the same, but I hope and pray that his loss will make me a better person as he now watches over me.

Good bye little brother.”

  7. I worked with Benny in Amarillo in the late 80’s. He was a dedicated and skilled colleague, and I learned a lot from him. I have fond memories of him and Michelle. My deepest sympathies to Michelle and the rest of the family. Rest In Peace, Benny.

  8. My thoughts and prayers go out to Benny’s family during this time of sorrow and loss.

Benny and I started our careers at the OCC about the same time, and went through many training sessions together over the years. I remember his quick smile, contagious laugh, and “good old boy” friendliness.

It had been years since I last saw him, but he hadn’t changed a bit…and that was a very good thing. Shocked by his early departure from these earthly bounds, but not forgotten.

  9. Benny and I worked together at the OCC during the 1980’s and both of us got our first managerial jobs at the OCC about the same time in early 1990’s.

I always enjoyed my time at OCC exams, schools, and management meetings with Benny. His great sense of humor made him fun to be around and share some good laughs.

It had been years since we had come across each other but I did have a chance to see him at a conference held at TIB about 15-18 months ago. It was great seeing him and catching up on his family. He was a proud father and grandfather, glad to be back in Amarillo, and seemed quite content with his present position.

He will definitely be missed and I am so sorry for his family. Taken too young and too soon.

  10. God’s peace & comfort for you all. My prayers are with you. So sorry for your great loss.
