Barbara Chedester – April 20, 2012

Barbara Chedester, 76, of Amarillo died on Friday, April 20, 2012.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at South Georgia Baptist Church with Reverend Bob Miller officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mrs. Chedester was born on May 9, 1935 in Hedley, Texas to Frank and Elva Davis. She attended Quail High School and graduated from Hedley High School.  She had been a genealogist for over forty years. She married Louis “Red” Chedester in February of 1978 in Canyon. She had several jobs including, working for Pantex, TDCJ as a prison guard, and as a clerk typist for Amarillo Fire Prevention. She also worked for the Amarillo Health Dept. Mrs. Chedester worked two jobs a lot of the time. She had a great sense of humor.
She was a member of South Georgia Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son and a grandson.
Survivors include her husband, Louis “Red” Chedester of Amarillo; three sons, Neil Hemelstrand and wife Tricia, Steven Hemelstrand and Ernie Chedester and wife Lisa, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Valarie Cadena and husband Frank of Austin; four sisters, Sandra Penn and husband Bill of Amarillo, Linda Stephens and husband John of Sparta, TN, Sharon Crews of Amarillo and Thava Merritt and husband Paul of Aztec, NM; twenty-five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
