B.R. "Walter" Reina-June 29, 2011

B.R. Reina, known as “Walter” to many of his friends, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2011. He was 85 years old.
Born on January 25, 1926, in Christine, Texas to Benito and Eulegia Reina.  He grew up in Christine and moved to Amarillo in 1945. On July 18, 1949, he married Estefana Valdez in Amarillo and later moved to Borger, where he worked for 43 years as a machinist at Phillips Petroleum.
“Walter” was a beloved husband, father, and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him. His love of people, his devotion to his family, and his loyalty to “anything Texas” sports teams are the things most will remember about him.
A daughter, Margie Reina Solano, preceded him in death.
“Walter” is survived by his devoted wife, Estefana “Babe” Reina of Amarillo; a son, Ben Reina of Amarillo; a daughter, Rosemarie Whitley of Pampa; three brothers, Dave Reina and Tom Reina of Borger, and Jesse Reina of Lake Whitley, TX; a sister, Florence Sena of Borger; three grandchildren, Steve Solano and wife Macey, Heather Grady and husband Shawn and Ryan Holt; two great grandchildren, Emerson and Karsten Solano.
The family is very grateful to dear family friends Maria Gloria and Joe and Lela Garcia, for all the constant love and support in his final days. A special thank you to the nurses, staff, and volunteers at BSA Hospice for their kindness, compassion, and care.
A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd.  Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Monsignor Joseph Tash as celebrant.  Burial will be at Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105.
