Anna M. Janhsen, 97, of Wildorado, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012 in Amarillo.
Graveside service and burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, on the Palo Duro Canyon highway, with a memorial service following at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5005 I-40 West, in Amarillo, with Pastor Brian Hesse and Pastor David Schatte officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Anna Margarethe Janhsen celebrated her 98th birthday with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ being called home on Sunday, February 5, 2012. Anna was born February 7, 1914 in rural Randall County in the “Block Pasture” to Paul and Ida Fluegel. She married Henry Janhsen in 1934 and moved to a farm at Wildorado, Texas where they raised their eight children. Anna was a homemaker and worked in the Wildorado school cafeteria. She loved to make bread, write poetry and paint for her family and friends. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Amarillo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include 5 daughters; Carol Frye of Amarillo, Margaret Moore and husband Billy Bob of Wildorado, Mary Kalbas of Farewell, Henrietta Doss of Canyon, Elisabeth Hargrave and husband Rex of Lebanon, Missouri, and three sons; Henry and wife Janell of Amarillo, John of Wildorado and Tim and wife Ty of Arlington, Texas, 19 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
The family wishes offer our special thanks and appreciation to Vista Care and Georgia Manor Nursing home for the loving care they gave our mother.
The family suggests memorials in lieu flowers to Trinity Lutheran School Endowment Fund or the Wildorado Volunteer Fire Department.
