Anita Starker Alvarez, 75, of Amarillo Tx passed away on Sep 10, 2020, from a stroke.

Anita was born in Amarillo, TX on Dec 23, 1944, to Bernard & Creola Starker of Happy, Tx. She graduated from Happy High School and continued on to receive a cosmetologist license and a drafting degree from Texas State Technical Institute.

Anita married Arnold Alvarez of Amarillo in 1995. As a cosmetologist, she owned her own business. She was employed by the Texas Agricultural Statistics Service for many years. She also worked in the Sherman County Treasurer’s Office, as well as had a drafting position with Adam’s Hard facing in Guymon, OK.

Anita is survived by 3 children and their spouses: Collin & Jennifer McKinney of Ft Worth, Holly & Erick Hendricks of Amarillo, and Wade & Lisa McKinney of Canyon. She is survived by 12 grandchildren: Aubrey Gibson of Seattle, Austin Gibson of Amarillo, Michael & Maddy McKinney of Ft Worth, Kate McKinney of Canyon, Jace Hendricks of Amarillo, Parker McKinney of Ft Worth, Ashlyn Hendricks of Lubbock, Alex McKinney of Canyon, Carly McKinney of Ft Worth, Branson Hendricks of Camp Lejune, Zack Hendricks of Amarillo and Jeffrey Williams of Amarillo. She was survived by 4 sisters: Dorothy Smotherman of Fallbrook CA, Bonnie Buecker of Canyon, Mary Borchardt of Amarillo, and Leta Acker of Amarillo.

Anita is preceded in death by 2 spouses: Clois Osburn in 1987 and Arnold Alvarez in 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents Bernard & Creola Starker, as well as 3 siblings: Myrna Lamb, Bernice Starker, and Mike Starker.

Services will be held at a later date.

  2. So sorry for your passing of your greatest and loving mother Holly and to me she was the greatest sister in law and the greatest wife to my brother Arnold. It’s such a painful step of life cycle we all go through and you have my deepest condolences to you and all your family. But now Anita and Arnold are together in a better place. Lots of love and hugs and prayers for all the families.
