Alven B. Weihe – April 3, 2011


Alven B. Weihe, 86, of Amarillo died on Sunday, April 3, 2011.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2011 at the First Christian Church with Reverend Barry Loving, Reverend Roy Wheeler and Regi Fowler officiating.   Private burial will be at Llano Cemetery.   Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Weihe was born on December 1, 1924 in Santa Monica, California to Irven and Laura Weihe.   He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a medic in Pattons 3rd from April 1943 to December 1945.  He served as an ambulance driver in European Theater and was in the Battle of the Bulge.   He worked as a brick mason and also worked for Paramount Terrace Christian Church for over twenty years in maintenance.   Mr. Weihe married Elaine Gast on June 10, 1984.   He was a member of First Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny and a son, Buddy.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Weihe of Amarillo; a step son, Billie Erixon and wife Donna and their daughter, Erica, all of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a step daughter, Roseann Erixon of San Antonio.
The family suggests memorials be made to the First Christian Church, 3001 Wolflin, Amarillo, TX 79109.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
