Alice Marie Brown

Alice Marie Brown, 80, went to see her everlasting Lord and Savior on March 20th, 2022, with her family beside her in Amarillo, Texas.

Celebration of Life services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 25th, 2022, at Oasis Southwest Baptist Church, 8201 Canyon Dr, Amarillo, Texas, with Bradley Speer officiating.

Alice was born on January 24th, 1942, in Haskell, Texas, to Luther Norris Sr. and Florence Cunningham. She graduated from McLean High School in 1960 and met her beloved husband Jimmy Lee Brown that same year. They married in 1961 in McLean, Texas.

Alice and Jimmy moved to California after being married, living in Los Angeles for a short time before moving back to the Panhandle of Texas where they settled down in Amarillo. In 1963 Alice gave birth to their first and only child Terry Lee Brown.

For several years, Alice taught as a teachers’ aid at South Georgia Elementary school in Amarillo, Texas, retiring in 1990. She then could focus on her true passion, raising her 3 grandchildren, Timothy, Robert, and Heather Brown. She and Jimmy would spend most of their time taking their grandchildren on many long trips in their motorhome, touring 35 of the 50 states. Their favorite destination has always been Eagle’s Nest, New Mexico. Alice was an avid member of Oasis Southwest Baptist Church. Over the last few years, she was able to love and cherish her two great-grandchildren Larissa and Tyler Brown. Alice was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother and was always quick to make a stranger a friend.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Brown; grandson, Timothy Brown and wife Crissy of Hereford, TX; grandson, Robert Brown and wife Allison of Amarillo, TX; granddaughter, Heather Brown of Amarillo, TX; sister, DoraFaye Smith of Amarillo, TX; brother, Norris Jr. of Arlington, TX; and great-grandchildren, Larissa and Tyler Brown of Hereford, TX.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Terry Brown; and daughter-in-law, Christine Brown.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to Oasis Homeless Ministry 8201 Canyon Dr., Amarillo, TX 79110.
