Ruby Odessa (Hill, Yarbrough) Young, 89, of Amarillo peacefully passed away from this earth to her eternal heavenly home on January 22, 2021, at the BSA Hospital.  Due to COVID, the family plans for a private memorial service later in the year.   Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Ruby was born as an only child to Adolph and Hilda (Sylvester) Hill on July 28, 1931, in Hooker, Oklahoma.  She was raised there and graduated Hooker High School in 1949 and later from Amarillo College with a BA degree in Business.  She was employed by the hospital in Guymon, Oklahoma as a phlebotomist beginning in 1975 until she married Bob Young in 1977.

Ruby was preceded in death 33 years ago by her beloved daughter, Candace (Candy) Coco, and later by her much-loved pet, “Molly”.

She is survived by her husband, Bob; son, Randal Yarbrough and his wife Heather, of Walsenburg, Colorado; stepchildren, Kathy Stoeber and her husband Harold, of Monte Vista, Colorado; Jennie Heersink and her husband Roger, of Alamosa, Colorado; Ron Young and his wife Carrie of Amarillo, Texas and Carol Sears and her husband Bob, of Fullerton, California.

Ruby loved God, her devoted husband of 43 years, her children, 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 1st Nazarene Family, close friends, and spicy food.  She became especially close to her caregiver, Mercedes Diaz, and her 4 children over the past few years and considered them family.   She loved people and never met a stranger.  But above all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
