Milton Lee Brown, 81, of Amarillo, TX died Monday, December 14, 2020.

Services will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, December 18, 2020, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Milton was born September 2, 1939, in Roswell, NM, to H.T. and Hazel Brown.  He graduated from Palo Duro High School, Class of 1958, and attended Texas Tech and Amarillo College.

He served his county in the Marine Corps Reserves for eight years.  Milton retired in 2001 from BNSF with forty years of service as a locomotive engineer.

Milton was preceded in death by his parents, H.T. and Hazel Brown; beloved infant daughter; and precious grandchildren, David Scott Mitchell and Katy McCall Mitchell.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Brown, of the home; two daughters, Julie Smith and husband Kerry, and Amy Mitchell and husband Scott, all of Amarillo, TX; a son, Barry Brown, of Arlington, TX; a sister, Danice “Danny” Doherty and husband Ray, of Amarillo, TX; a brother, Phil Brown and wife Ethelene, of Dauphin Island, AL; six grandchildren, Josh, Kristin, Trey, Jacob, Beau, and Maggie; and three great-grandchildren, Justice, Brecken, and Sourey.

  2. Barbara, I am so sorry to hear about Milton. I have known Milton as long as I can remember. Phil and I weren’t old enough to pal around with Milton, Royce Reeves, or Paul Lempke. I remember once when we were young Milton shot himself in the hand with a pellet rifle and him and Royce Reeves were walking up and down the alley digging the pellet out, afraid to tell his mother, Hazel. Remember the good times and fond memories Barbara, and I know there were many through the years . Milton would want that.

  5. Barbara. Quite a shock to me when I learned of Milton’s passing. I enjoyed our times together during Bible Study and lunch. I will miss him greatly. My deepest condolences.
