Yolanda Barron Lopez

Yolanda Barron Lopez, 80, of Amarillo passed away on July 6, 2022.

Yolanda was born on November 4, 1941, to Rodolfo and Hortensia Barron.  She was raised in Brownsville, Texas where she started to work at an early age to help her family.   She met the love of her life, Rafeal S Lopez and they were married on October 25, 1961. They were married for 58 wonderful years.  They would later move to Woodland, California where they would build their life for over 50 years.  She was a stay-at-home mom and would work seasonally in agriculture.   Later she worked for many years for Exxon Mobile in the plastics division in Woodland, California. They moved to Amarillo in 2016 to be closer to her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Yolanda was a servant of God that believed deeply in her Savior Jesus Christ.  She loved to help others and would often give what ever she had to bless someone in need. She was a loving mother and sister.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rafeal, her parents Rodolfo and Hortensia, along with three brothers Rudy, Rene, and Rodolfo Barron, and a sister Noemi Silva.

She is survived by her three children, David and Kathryn Lopez of Amarillo; Patricia Lopez and Scott Douglass of Alexandria, VA; Jim and Rebekah Lopez of Bakersfield, CA; grandchildren Heather Lopez, Caleb Lopez and wife Meagen, and Daniel Lopez all of Amarillo; Emily Lopez, James Lopez and wife Aimee of Bakersfield, CA;  Antonio Douglass and Samantha Douglass of Alexandria, VA; six great-grandchildren; brothers Ralph Barron, Rolando Barron, sisters Elida Sosa, Sylvia Trevino, Chuchi Rodriguez, Flora Hernandez, and Mine Barron; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Viewing will be from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd in Amarillo, Texas.   A private family burial will be held at Buena Vista Cemetery in Brownsville, Texas.
