Winifred “June” Davis Hathcock

On Sept. 20, 2022, Winifred “June” Davis Hathcock passed away peacefully in Amarillo, Texas. She was 96 years old. A lifelong Texas native, June was well-loved in towns she lived in throughout the state, including Amarillo, Wichita Falls, Graham and Newcastle. She was wife, Mom, Grammy and June to those who knew and loved her and was called beautiful by everyone she encountered.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jay Lewis Sr.; mother, Avis Neal Middleton; father, Jack Davis; son, Jay Lewis Jr. (Sharyn); daughter, Olivia Blankenship; grandson, Jason Hathcock (Kirsten); great-grandson, Shawn Hathcock; and sister, Patsy Roberts (Dale).

She is survived by five grandchildren — Jeremy Hathcock (Amy), of Lakeside, Arizona; Ian Hathcock (Jessica), of Phoenix, Arizona; Olivia Smith (James), of Scottsdale, Arizona; Julie Clarke (Jeff), of Amarillo, Texas; Sheryl Caldwell (Tony), of Tallassee, Alabama; and many great-grandchildren.

Our beautiful Grammy loved all things pink, big band and choir music, daily walks, sunshine, dancing, and sweet treats — lots of them. She had an incredible memory, and her fondest memories were always of her childhood in Newcastle and Graham, and of her family. She is finally reunited with so many of them now. Our hearts are so sad for ourselves, but we rejoice that she is in the arms of Jesus, fully healed.

A  service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 29, 2022, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Graveside service for the family will be at Newcastle Cemetery in Newcastle. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.
