William E. Chambless – December 31, 2016

chambless-william-obit-picWilliam E. Chambless, 87, of Sunray, died Saturday, December 31, 2016.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sunray.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.

William was born on August 29, 1929 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to Walter and Clotild Chambless.   He graduated from Dumas High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He had worked for Diamond Shamrock as a pipe line superintendant.  He was a fifty year member and past master of the Sunray Masonic Lodge #1281.  He was also a member of the VFW Post 9022 in Dumas and the First United Methodist Church in Sunray.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Chambless; a son, Kim Chambless; twin brother, Walter James Chambless; and younger brother, Beldon Wrae Chambless.

He is survived by his son Michael Chambless and Elizabeth Mireles of Sunray.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, Florida   33607 or to the Scott & White Healthcare Foundation, 2401 S. 31st St., Temple, Texas  76508
