Waymond Dee Aplin, 77, of Amarillo, TX passed away February 24, 2025.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, March 3, 2025, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Waymond was born June 3, 1947, in Carnegee, OK to Franklin Junior and Camarine Aplin. He married Barbara Claypool on November 15, 1968, in Dumas, TX. He worked at the Neal Unit and Clements Unit for 15 years. He also worked with the Kwahadi Indian Dancers running their trading post and travelled with them. He enjoyed volunteering as a Boy Scout and Girl Scout Leader. Waymond also worked for the host program at San Jacinto Elementary. He loved spending time with his grandkids, they were his pride and joy. Waymond loved motorcycles-they rode all over the country. “Papa” loved showing off his grandbabies!
He was preceded in death by his parents, June and Camarine Aplin; in-laws, Allene and Lonnie Claypool; and brothers, Raymond Lee Aplin (his twin), William Aplin and Gayland Gilbert Aplin.
Waymond is survived by his wife Barbara Aplin; children, Stephen Shaun Aplin and Melanie “Diane” Edmondson and husband James; grandkids, Cheyenne Edmondson, James “Logan” Edmondson, and Mercedes Aplin; sisters-in-law, Connie Gilvin and Belinda Hamilton and husband Johnnie; nieces and nephews, Casey Bennett, Craig Hamilton and wife Angie, Christie Hamilton, Jeffrey Hamilton and wife Brittany, Megan Jeter and husband Chad; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
