Vikki Ann Moore

Vikki Ann Saunders Moore, 73, of Amarillo, TX went home to her Lord and Savior, on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 27, 2023, at Polk Street Methodist Church with the Rev. Katie Hill officiating.  Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m., Saturday in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Wellington, TX.   Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Vikki was born January 16, 1950, in Wellington, TX to Hubert and Barbara (Dodson) Saunders.  She graduated from Wellington High School on May 31, 1968.

While working for West Texas Utilities Company, in Childress, TX, Vikki met her co-worker and future husband, Stephen Ray Moore.  He was single and raising three young children and she admired that about him.  They married on November 11, 1982, at Lover’s Lane United Methodist Church in Dallas, TX.

She grew up in the Methodist Church having been an active member at First United Methodist Church in Wellington and later at Polk Street Methodist Church.

Vikki worked for Parson’s Drug, Wellington C&H Pharmacy, Childress General Hospital, and West Texas Utilities Company, and ended her work career in 2008 with 22 years at Xcel Energy where she held various positions in customer service, bookkeeping, line departments, and credit/collections.

Vikki was known for her kindness and dependability.  She was committed to her family, maintaining friendships, and was a magnet for new friends.  Together, she and Stephen loved to travel, cruising, and they especially loved their time in the mountains, visiting Lake Tahoe, Reno, Las Vegas, and Biloxi, MS.  Above all else her greatest joy was the role of mother, and Mimi/Granny to her family.

Her husband joked that the ark landed in Wellington, TX because no matter where she went, she knew someone from Collingsworth County.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hubert Saunders; mother, Barbara Saunders Beights; stepfather, Cletus Beights; and daughter, Magen Moore McVeigh.

Survivors include her husband, Stephen Ray Moore, of the home; children, Jeff Moore and wife Kim, of Glen Rose, TX, Jamie Moore and wife Ashley, of Cleburne, TX, and Chelsea Noggler and husband Kenny, of Caddo Mills, TX; grandchildren, McKenzie, Carson, and Cayden Moore, Kade and Kenley Moore, Macie Hernandez, Courtnie Courvier, Aidan McVeigh, and Trinity and AnnaRuth Noggler.

The family suggests memorials to Make-a-Wish, the Wounded Warrior Project, or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
