Truett Irvin, 83, of Dumas, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel.  Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Truett was born Aug. 28, 1930, in Sulphur Springs to Kermit and Minnie Bee Irvin.  He worked as a carpenter and a pipe fitter.  He served in the Air Force during the Korean War.  Truett lived in Dumas most of his life.  He could do almost anything himself, he always stood for what he believed and didn’t try to impress other people.  He was truly one of a kind.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Buchanan, a brother, Rudy Irvin; and a sister, Doris Byars.

Survivors include three daughters, Debbie Buchanan and husband Tony and Carol Luke and husband Farris, all of Amarillo and Sandy Ives and husband Donnie of Dallas; a son, Waylan Irvin of Amarillo; a sister, Mary Ann Byrd and husband Larry of Dumas;  eight grandchildren, Keegan, Missy, Ashton, Tawny, Tamar, Shawn, Derek and Zack; and nine great-grandchildren.
