Tressie was born in Littlefield, Tx on December 3, 1958, to Jerry and Louise Gilliam. Tressie graduated from Anton Highschool in 1977. She worked for the City of Floydada for many years until moving to Amarillo. Also known as “Mama Cummins,” she dedicated 20+ years to the service department at Cummins before retiring in 2024. Her greatest accomplishment was being a mother to not only her two daughters but a welcoming heart and place of peace for anyone she came across. Her smile would light up the darkest of days. To know her was to be loved by her. She took great pride in her garden of oasis, full of beautiful flowers and sharing her tomatoes, she had the gift of a green thumb. She was a joyful woman who’s love language was food. She could always be found dancing in her kitchen and infectiously laughing over a warm stove. The family looked forward to her famous carrot cake every year. She loved capturing all of life’s moments with her camera and teaching her grandson to dance. She was a big Dallas Cowboys fan, who could be heard down the street cheering them, she loved her Sunday football.
She leaves behind a legacy of memories filled with love and patience to be treasured for a lifetime. She will be forever missed and loved by so many. Her biggest prayer was that we all find comfort in her finally being at home with our savior.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Louise Gilliam, and beloved sister Sandra Glasscock. Survivors include daughters Melissa Young and fiancé Daniel Murga of Amarillo, Jessica Womack and husband Jack of Amarillo, a Grandson Noah Murga, companion Earl Kessler of Amarillo, Sister Debra Beech of Brownwood, her brother Tommy Gilliam and wife Glenda of Ropesville, nephews Scott Beech of Colorado and Matthew Beech of Brownwood, Dustin Gilliam and niece Daysha Wimms of Ropesville, And of course her beloved dogs Buddy and Odie, also of Amarillo.
