Thomas "Tom" Emmett Reyman, Jr.

Thomas Emmitt Reyman, Jr., 92, of Amarillo, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior and his wife, Doris Ann on February 10, 2025. 

The family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M., Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 17, 2025, at First Christian Church in the Robison Chapel with Gene Shelburne officiating. Military honors will be provided by Volleys for Veterans. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. 

Tom was born in Denver, Colorado on April 4, 1932, to Dorothy Louise (Fowlkes) Reyman and Thomas Emmitt Reyman, Sr. 

The Reymans moved to Amarillo when Tom was two years old where he attended Wolflin Elementary School, E. Nixson Junior High School and graduated from Amarillo High School.

He attended Amarillo College before transferring to SMU. After attending SMU for two years he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he graduated from Aviation Mechanical School, in Norman, OK. After his honorable discharge from the Navy he returned for a brief stint at Amarillo College prior to transferring to Texas A& M University at College Station where he graduated with a BBA Degree.

Prior to enlisting in the Navy, Tom met and married Doris Ann Robison at First Christian Church on July 1, 1952, officiated by her father Dr. Newton J. Robison. They had two children, Rebecca Deanne (Reyman)Slagle, born in Carmel, California, and Thomas (Tony) Newton Reyman, born in College Station, Texas. After graduation, the family moved to Albuquerque, NM where Tom was employed by the Sandia Corporation in their Personnel Dept.

Desiring to return to Amarillo and pursue a career in the construction industry, as his father, Thomas E. Reyman Sr. had done , as an architect for the Santa Fe Railway, Tom was hired at Crowe Gulde, Inc., which, at the time was the largest supplier of building materials between Dallas and Denver. Tom achieved the rank of Department manager for the Building Products division and later was promoted to Corporate Vice President. While at CGI he joined DHI (The Door and Hardware Institute) and passed the exam to become an AHC(Architectural Hardware Consultant).

In 1979, Tom, his son-in-law and another employee purchased the building products division from CGI and formed RSM Builders Supply, Inc., with offices in Amarillo and Lubbock. Tom retired from RSM in 1997.

Tom was a member of the Jr. Chamber of Commerce, The Chamber of Commerce, The Lions Club as well as the West Amarillo Rotary Club. Tom spent 26 years in The Kids Incorporated program serving as Coach, Round Up Man, Commissioner, and two time President of the Board of Directors. He was a member and three time President of The Amarillo Community Center Board of Directors. Tom was an avid golfer and was elected to the Tascosa Country Club Board of Directors where he also served as President of the Board.

Tom was raised and baptized at Polk Street United Methodist Church. After his marriage he transferred his membership to First Christian Church, where his wife’s father, Dr, Newton J Robison was the Senior Pastor. While there, he taught Senior High Sunday School, served as a Deacon, Elder, and Treasurer for 12 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents : Thomas E. Reyman Sr. ; his mother Dorothy Louise Reyman: his brother Jess Theodore(Ted) Reyman : his wife, Doris Anne Reyman and his son, Thomas(Tony) N Reyman.

He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca(Becky) Slagle and husband James; grandchildren, Shelley King and husband Ken, Melissa Clay and husband Marcus, and Rebekah Jones and husband Tyson; grand son, Jason B. Reyman and wife Jackie; great-grandchildren, Kristen and Kortlan Clay, and Joslyn and Jameson Jones, Lily Chambers and husband Albert, Quinton Reyman; and one great-great-grandchild Blakely Ann Clay, due in May of 2025. 

Tom was a devoted Husband, Father, Grand Father Great Grandfather and Great Great Grandfather who loved his family, his Lord and his country.

Memorial donations may be made in Tom’s memory to Kids Inc Rockrose Sports Park, 2201 SE 27th Ave., Amarillo, Texas 79103.

Tom will be available for viewing on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M., and on Sunday from Noon – 5:00 P.M., at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
