Thomas Edward Cloud, 83, of Amarillo, TX passed away on March 24, 2022.

Services will be at 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 28, 2022, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Tom was born in Amarillo, Texas on July 2, 1938, to Dona Elizabeth Thweatt and Lee Austin Cloud. He attended Palo Duro High school and enjoyed attending class reunions any time he could. After high school, he served in the United States Army.

Tom married Tiny Shirk in 1960. He and Tiny had two children, Linda and Lee. In 1973, Tom married Betty Shahan and loved her boys, Darrell, Lee, and Mike, like his own.

Tom retired in June of 2003 after being a truck driver for 38 years. He drove for Yellow Freight, ICX, and Sav-A-Stop making great friends everywhere he worked.  His career took him to live in Liberal, Kansas; Las Vegas Nevada; Lincoln, Nebraska and Bartlett, Tennessee.

After retiring and returning to Amarillo, Tom had an active social life. He enjoyed restoring classic cars, showing them in car shows, dancing at the VFW, and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty; his sisters Virginia Cloud, Hester Cloud, Juanita Haines, Peggy Sowder, and Billie Mathis; and his brother, Marvin Cloud.

Survivors include two brothers, Hank (Buddy) Cloud and wife Patsy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Herschel Cloud and wife Betty of Yorba Linda, California; sister, Rita Sprague of Oklahoma, City, Oklahoma; daughter, Linda Stanhope and husband Bobby of Alvord, Texas; sons, Lee Cloud of Kermit, Texas; Darrell Girty and wife Susan; Mike Girty and wife Cindy; and Lee Girty all of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Susan White and husband Casey, Darrell Girty and wife Mary Margaret, Brad Girty, Chris Stanhope and wife Ellen, Mike Stanhope, Charlie Stanhope, Elizabeth Stanhope, Chad Stanhope and wife Jen, Erin Krock and husband Dennis, and Dalton Cloud; 26 great-grand kids and 6 great-great-grand kids.

Family and friends will miss Papa Tom’s kind heart and love for life.
