Terry Lee Marler, 76, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, July 17, 2024.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, July 22, 2024 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Terry was born on November 4, 1947 in Memphis, Texas to Carl and Laverne Marler. He graduated from Caprock High School. He worked for Sav-A-Stop for over 20 years as a warehouse manager until he opened Fat Boy's BBQ of Canyon, Texas in February of 1988 as owner, operator until his retirement in January of 2015.
Terry was a lover of life and people and was a friend to all he met, never knowing a stranger. He absolutely loved his family above all and enjoyed every moment he could, spending time with his kids and grandkids in every kind of activity from attending events, to 4 wheeling and camping and fishing, to playing all kinds of games, with the yearly Monopoly game a definite highlight to the end of every year for many years. Terry was also involved in playing softball and volleyball, square dancing, golfing and hunting as often as he could.
Terry loved his wife more than anything on earth. He married Vicki Misener on May 18, 1973 and for 51 years he rarely left her side. They met at Sav-A-Stop working together and continued working together throughout those 51 years until their retirement. They took many wonderful trips together with family and friends and traveled all across the United States with gambling in nearby casinos a definite favorite.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Michelle McCollum and a son, Bryan Marler.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki Marler, daughter Crysta Sullivan, widow to Bobby Sullivan, son Terry Wayne Marler, a son-in-law Brent McCollum and wife Stefanie, two sisters, Judy Miller and Janna Veach, nine grandchildren; Caleb Sullivan, Braelley Stickrod and husband Chris, Sarah Sullivan, Hannah Rupprecht and husband Rowdi, Mason McCollum and wife Jesse, Brett Marler, Seth Sullivan, Lauren Marler, Mindy Thomas and husband Sawyer and five great-grandchildren; Brenton, Aria, James, Colter and Robin with a sixth to come in March of next year, all of Amarillo.
