Terry Collins, 65, of Amarillo, TX died November 20, 2024.
Burial will be at 10 A.M., Monday, November 25, 2024, at Westlawn Cemetery in Hutchinson County. The memorial service will follow at 1 PM at Crossroads Country Church (Amarillo), with Bob Miller officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Terry was born August 14, 1959, to Homer and Ada Mae Collins, in Borger, TX. He graduated from Sanford Fritch High School in 1977 and attended West Texas A&M University.
Terry married Betty Lou Hicks on December 12, 1981, in Borger, TX at First Church of the Nazarene. They met in the bridal party of a friend in the same church. In 1980, he began working at Phillips Petroleum Company, retiring in 2017. He worked in operations and was a journeyman electrician.
Terry was a member of Crossroads Country Church in Amarillo, and Canyon Lions Club where he worked on many projects. He also served on the advisory board and delivered totes to schools for Fill with Hope and was a member of Gideons International. Terry was a transportation driver in the movie “What Remains” and ran his website “Terry’s Sports Page” for twenty-five years, covering Region I/Class AAA and AAAA sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents; aunts and uncles; sister-in-law, Sharon; brother-in-law, David; in-laws, Bill and Sarah Hicks; and nephew James McLaughlin.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Collins; daughter, Shana Collins; sister, Brenda Gray and husband Glenn; sister-in-law, Debbie Gillispie; nephews, Ryan Gray and wife Donnell, Scott Gillispie and wife Kat, and Kevin Gillispie and wife Holly; nieces, Brittnye Chandler and husband Anson, Ashleigh Rozzell and husband Stevie, and Tia Haseloff and husband Ray; great-nieces, great-nephews, numerous cousins; uncle, BJ Collins; aunts, Helen Collins and Ava Lee Collins.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Crossroads Country Church, Fill with Hope, or to Gideons International.
