Tammy Lynn Sykes – January 19, 2018

Tammy Lynn Sykes died Friday, January 19, 2018. She was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on March 28, 1970 to Grant and Joan (Hendry) Norman. She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Karen Flanigan. She is survived by her mother, her daughter, Bella Sykes, her son, Stephen Sykes, and her grandson, Marques.
Tammy’s family moved to Amarillo when she was eight. She graduated from Amarillo High School and later received her LVN certification from Amarillo College.  Tammy loved her family and devoted her life and energies to their well-being. I am very grateful we had these last few years to connect on FB Tammy! Being a fellow Canadian, it was easy to connect with you as you knew about Canadian issues when we talked. You were always so upbeat and would always say you were “fine” and now I learn that you were soooo sick! RIP my dear lady as it seems life was extremely hard for you!

Tammy was an amazing person! We never met, but I became friends with her through our nursing group and then on our personal Facebook accounts. We used to talk on the phone and she always knew the right thing to say and I would laugh and cry. One time she realized that we hadn’t talked for a while and she couldn’t reach me, so she went down my friends list and finally got a hold of my brother. He told her that I had accidentally been severely burned and was in a burn unit. She spoke with him everyday after that just to get updates and offer support, until I was off the vent, and meds were decreased enough for me to talk to her! I loved her very much❣️
